About Steve...

Multiple Grammy-nominated trombonist and composer Steve Wiest is a force of creativity, blending jazz, sci-fi, funk, and education. From his early years with Maynard Ferguson to directing UNT’s One O’Clock Lab Band, Wiest has shaped modern jazz with bold compositions like Ice-Nine and his Grammy-nominated Bésame Mucho arrangement.

Beyond jazz, he’s an author (Concerto for Folded Space), podcast host (WiestWorld), and founder of the social media site for musicians and other artists called JamTrek. He continues pushing artistic boundaries through music, storytelling, and innovation—all while living in Chicago with his wife, Deborah, and their beloved golden retriever, Phoebe
