Written as a musical homage to the great Art Blakey with textures and colors reminiscent of Slide Hampton, this popular chart alternates between Afro Cuban (basic groove written out for drums) and straight-ahead swing. AABA form solo space for alto and trombone, each with their own sendoffs. Standard alto-tenor-bari saxophone section no doubles. Highest note for lead trumpet is a concert C above the staff. The whole thing builds to a swinging double shout chorus, and then ends with a collective improv section. A unique and fun addition to your library!
