Miles Slide

Full modern big band orchestration of the original composition recorded by the jazz fusion group Phröntrange on their “High Road” album. Written in a slow-burn groove that alternates between a soulful Miles Davis-style funky feel and a Slide Hampton slow straight ahead blues persona. Standard alto-tenor-bari saxophone section no doubles. Highest note for lead trumpet is a Dconcert above the staff (used sparingly) Solo space for lead trombone. The double-time lines in the horns are a challenge but playable, making this unique piece a must-have in any library.
