More Than Anything

Commissioned in memory of Indianna band director legend Don Parsons, “More Than Anything” is based on the changes to the Jobim classic “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars.” A feature for trombone, the piece begins with the whole trombone section playing acapella then brings in the rest of the band. The bossa nova style goes into a double time swing section the returns to the pastel bossa groove. Standard alto-tenor-bari saxophone section no doubles. All the brass are in comfortable ranges with the lead trumpet’s highest note being a concert G on the top staff.
